Das BiB lädt zur Vortragsreihe am 31. Januar 2024 von 11:00 bis 12:15 Uhr ein. Prof. Raya Muttarak referiert zum Thema „Population Dynamics Under Global Climate Change“.
Raya Muttarak ist Professorin für Demografie am Institut für Statistische Wissenschaften "Paolo Fortunati" an der Universität Bologna. Prof. Muttarak ist eine der Hauptforscherinnen des ERC Consolidator Grant: POPCLIMA Population Dynamics under Global Climate Change (2022-2026).
Abstract
Although it is highly plausible that climate change will also affect population trends, existing global population projections have so far not taken into account the climate feedback on demographic processes. The aim of this project is to review the evidence on the impact of climate factors on fertility, mortality and migration, and to consider whether population projections need to take into account the climate feedback on demographic processes. Given the ambitious nature of this project and the urgency of understanding the impact of climate on population dynamics, an interdisciplinary exchange is needed to better understand such mechanisms.
