The Federal Institute for Population Research

The Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) examines the causes and consequences of demographic change and has the task of advising the Federal Government and the Federal Ministries on the basis of scientific research which includes support of the Federal Government with international cooperation on population issues in the context of the United Nations. Providing information to the general public on the demographic change and on the results of research is another important task of the BiB.

The BiB was established in 1973 and is based in Wiesbaden. It is a federal departmental research institution and is part of the business area of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community.
