The Federal Institute for Population Research

The Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) examines the causes and consequences of demographic change and has the task of advising the Federal Government and the Federal Ministries on the basis of scientific research. This includes support of the Federal Government in international cooperation on population issues within the framework of the United Nations. Informing the general public on topics related to demographic change and on the institute’s research results is another important task of the BiB.

The BiB was established in 1973 and is based in Wiesbaden. It is a federal departmental research institution and is part of the area of responsibility of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community.
