BiB Anniversary | 03.07.2023A new logo for the 50th anniversary
The Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) is introducing a new logo that reflects the diversity and dynamism of the Institute with fresh colours. The launch of the logo is a first step towards the redefinition of the BiB's design.
The decline in the German birth rate 50 years ago marked the birth of the BiB. Since then, the research institute, which is part of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), has been focusing on demographic change and researching a wide range of population-related issues.
Visualising the bridge between science and society
In order to strengthen the BiB's profile as a departmental research institution externally, a process of design reinvention was initiated. The central element is the new logo. It combines the look of pie charts as a visualisation of scientific data with stylised icons for the population. The positioning in a semicircle stands for building bridges between science and society. For the results of BiB research on societal changes are to advise politics and administration as well as inform the public.
Corporate design process continues
The launch of the logo is only the first step. A new colour scheme and font is planned for autumn, which will then be visible on the website, social media and in BiB publications as well as on other products.
