The Generations and Gender Survey is part of the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) initiated by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. A number of demographic institutes were involved in the development of the GGP, which today form the GGP consortium. These are the participating institutes:

Coordination of the GGS is carried out by the UNECE and by the NIDI, but responsibility for conducting the respective national GGS is that of the participating countries.
