We are delighted to welcome Florian Bonnet from the French Institute for Demographic Studies (INED) and Elsa Perdrix from Paris Dauphine University to Wiesbaden. From June 2–4, they will be staying with us at the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) to delve deeper into mortality disparities across European regions and to intensify our already close cooperation.

Florian Bonnet is a Research Fellow at INED in Aubervilliers, France. He holds a PhD in Economics from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. Due to his interest in regional differences and trends in mortality, he has collaborated with us on several papers related to our REDIM project. This week, he is visiting us for the third time to intensify our cooperation on two papers. The first focuses on ‘deaths of despair’ across European regions. The second paper examines the relationship between life expectancy and GDP per capita for approximately 450 European regions.

Elsa Perdrix is an Associate Professor of Economics at Paris Dauphine University. She holds a PhD in Economics from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and previously worked at the Munich Center for the Economics of Aging (MEA) of the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy. Together with Florian Bonnet, she will be working with our team on the subject of ‘deaths of despair’.

We look forward to a fruitful collaboration and wish them a pleasant stay in Wiesbaden!
