MATEO - Mannheimer Texte Online - (a joint project of the Institute of Documentation and Databases, the rector's Office, the Computer centre and the library at the University of Mannheim) is the first internet publisher at a German university. The text ofthe speech, held at the Symposium „Informationsinfrastruktur im Wandel", reflects the Situation and the perspectives ofMATEO's work. The contribution especially deals with the financial and organizational aspects of the work of an online publisher in the context of an university, but also with the conception and Implementation of the documents and Services provided by MATEO.
